The last 15 of August, the government decided to significantly increase fuel prices and transport costs. This meant that the monks protested against the Birman military regime demanding political and social changes. The police and government banned taking photos of the demonstration to any journalist or civilian. The primary means of disseminating became the Internet, but now it is almost impossible to get on line from Birmania. An estimated more than 50 dead, a German and a Japanese photographer.
